Painting Technique For 'New' Shelf To Look Olde

I purchased this shelf at a yard sale for $1. It was oak. I painted it with 2 coats of black acrylic paint. When it dried, I dry brushed it with a sage green acrylic paint. I then added a rusty star to the top.

This is another candle shelf I purchased for $3 at an antique store. It was also oak. I used the same technique on this one.

  2. Awesome, very cool! Reminds me of Texas, lol. Every time I try to do something like this, well, lets just say I can sew, cook and take care of animals...painting I leave to others! Thanks for sharing, Elaine
